I'm thinking of buying this and then replacing the video card with GTX 980. Is this computer powerful enough to handle it with the factory installed power supply?

definitely need a new PSU. you could get by with a 970, but not a 980.

No, and in my opinion, the OEM PSU is not good enough for a GTX 970 either.
