It's a bay trail celeron, so the performance is closer to the bay trail atoms than the haswell pentiums. Supposed to be a good screen and speakers, with a middle of the road (for chromebooks) battery life.

Shouldn't they pay me to buy a chromebook. What's the point? These things are useless. You can get machines that run useful Windows programs for this price.

lol not everyone wants to use windows....i do agree with you....but these machines work well for people that are older and not that tech savvy....like someones parents, or people that use apple products.

or even just a cheap machine for guests to use.

It's foolish to dismiss Chromebooks. They're incredibly useful devices and everybody I've convinced to buy them has been very happy.

I don't think many people realize just how few Windows programs the average user runs anymore.

Unless you're doing photo/video editing or LOB stuff, there is little point in getting a Windows PC.

I say this as a SysAdmin in charge of hundreds of PCs running Win7.

maybe you are right. if people have a desktop with tons of storage, then he/she might as well pick up a chromebook just for internet email.
The lack of storage prevented a chromebook from being used as a main/sole system. at least for me. also MS office and Adobe Acrobat are a must for many ppl, which you get neither on chromebook.
