$100 Chevron GC: $90
eBay regular CB: $5.40
4% CB (other source): $10.80
Total CB: $16.20
Thus, obtained $300 Chevron GC for $253.80 (saving of $46.20).
In my area, Chevron ($2.80) is 7 cents more than the cheapest one (Costco: $2.73):
Chevron GC: $300/$2.80 = 107.14 gallons
Costco: $300/$2.73 = 109.89 gallons
Difference in gallons: $109.89-107.14 = 2.75 gallons
Thus, 2.75 gallons times $2.73 (Costco being the cheapest) will be $7.50
It appears that Chevron has the useful additive and hence it costs more. This does not matter, since I will save about $39 ($46.20 - $7.50 = $38.70).
I will be ahead even after 3-4% CB by using credit card in gas stations, since 3-4% of $300 is still less than $39 or $46.
