Same code also takes $50 off Anova One: http://store.anovaculinary.com/products/anova
Anova One is no longer available from their website.

I'm not sure if using slickdeals is saving me money or making me spend more...
I would never consider buying a precision cooker... well... I just did...
I use mine twice a week or so... more often than my grill, immersion blender, waffle maker, stand mixer, hand mixer, steamer, rice cooker, and blender... obviously YMMV.

I can cook a bunch of chicken breasts, just salt and peppered, on Sunday, and I have chicken for the week. I use it make chicken pot pie, grilled chicken, chicken for tacos/nachos, chicken for pasta, chicken salad, salad with chicken. I just add different glazes or sauces for them. It is one of the easiest way to cook a bunch of protein.

I cooked a 6 pound pork loin in it one day. It fed 10 people for two meals, and it took all of 10 minutes putting a rub on it, sealing it, and throwing it in my sous vide cooler. I ran a bunch of errands, and I pulled it out 5-6 hours later and grilled it for about two minutes.

Last week, I threw a steak in there after I got home from work, mowed, edged, and trimmed the yard while the steak cooked. When I got done, I took a shower, and heated my pan up while I fixed a simple salad, cooked the steak for a minute in the hot pan, and it was a perfect medium rare. It was so easy.
Do you realize that no one is boiling food in plastic bags with their sous vide? The vast majority of proteins are cooked in a range between 130 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit (more than 70 degrees below the boiling point of water).

The absolute maximum temperature I have used in sous vide cooking over a year and a half of near daily use is 184F for vegetables and yogurt. That is nearly 30 degrees below the boiling point.

I would certainly not advocate boiling food in plastic, but thankfully that couldn't be further from the intention of sous vide cooking.

this is probably the lowest it has been, right? (Besides the first 1000 people who backed it on kickstarter for $99)

Interesting that the newer model "Precision" has a smaller heater? It takes longer to heat the water. It's probably no big deal since you should give yourself plenty of time when doing sous vide.

I've had one for a couple of months. It heats up in a hurry, no complaints.
