Whoo Hooo!!! The party is back on. These were sold for the same price at BB last week and people got them for the $25 bonus credit. Walmart took up the torch this week and have them priced for exactly the same price as BB last week. DO NOT BUY THEM AT WALMART. Use Walmart and PM at Best Buy for the $25 bonus credit. I know some people will say that PMing will invalidate the $25 bonus credit. I believe this to be incorrect. Yes, some people will say that they PMed and didn't get the credit. But plenty of people that didn't PM will say the same. So I believe that has nothing to do with PMing since there are plenty of people that PMed and also got the credit.

So if you are sorry you missed out on these deals last week at BB. Don't be sorry since you can still get these deals this week if your BB still has them in stock. The Moto G is pretty well thinned out at BB but the Moto E is still widely available.

Here are the links at Walmart to PM with.

See this XDA Developers thread for the trick to switch this phone's preferred network type to GSM/LTE, and to keep it from switching back to CDMA/LTE.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/m...k-t3098953

If you're not comfortable with using Android Debug Bridge (ADB) shell commands, do not remove your SIM card or hard reset your phone after the Android 5.1 update. This will revert the preferred network type to CDMA/LTE, and you won't be able to set it back without using adb.

The device is SIM-unlocked, and can be used on any GSM network, but you need to switch the preferred network type to GSM/LTE or "4G" (Mode 9) and manually enter your carrier's Access Point Name (APN)

Q: Can I use the Moto E on Verizon Postpaid?
A: Officially, you can use the Moto E on Verizon Postpaid only after it's been activated once, and only after waiting 6 months after initial activation date.
However, there is a small loophole where if, before you ever turn on the phone, you swap the SIM inside with your own Postpaid SIM (MicroSIM) then it will work no problem!

If you have an active post paid nano SIM, you can buy a nano to micro SIM card adapter off of ebay or amazon for cheap and use the nano SIM in the adapter.

Get the Moto E if you want an unlocked GSM phone. Get the Moto G if you want a free phone to use as a tiny tablet. The Moto G is a hell of a device for free. Really, really good phone. Even at $25 OOP, it punches well above it's weight.

I have a couple of stupid questions:

1. does either Moto E or Moto G use SIM cards
2. do these prepaid phones work with Verizon contracts? so if question #1 is yes, i can just buy these and insert my SIM card in?

Thanks!

This is a great deal for these budget phones. I saw someone on craigslist take the a moto g like pictured above, and sell it as a moto g 2. They look pretty similar. Be careful around these folks... upcharging like pros.

I would like to know this as well. I could definitely use a cheapo phone when travelling rather than carry my regular phone.

It's not something they give you at the local store. It's something that the rewards people give you if you buy a smartphone. There's nothing the local store can do about it.
