Thread Details

This is an anti-deal. I just post it here so that more people will be aware of this instead of getting caught by surprise.

I expect thumb downs are incoming...but it was really not me who made this decision( And I am a victim myself), just please don't hate the messenger...

MODs: Please don't delete the thread, at the very least move it to deal talks.

Just got this from discover:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear *****(My name),

That's for your card... I didn't get that email. Doesn't matter though because I don't use those benefits right now.

It is global instead of limited to specific person, check out discover.com/credit-cards/member-benefits/security/travel-assistance/

Without log in, you can see "Effective August 1, 2015, Discover will discontinue 24/7 Travel Assistance."

Discover Cards gave you roadside assistance? News to me, but I guess it doesn't matter now.

Here's my response back to Discover's "streamlining deal."

"Dear Discover, my use of your credit card is streamlining on August 1, 2015.

I want you to be happy at Discover. That's why periodically I review the valuable benefits you derive from me using your Discover card. I have decided to start using my other credit cards and discontinue using yours.

What this means for you:
Effective August 1, 2015 Discover card will no longer be my credit card of choice. If I make a credit card purchase that occurs on or after August 1, 2015, it will not be using my Discover card.

P.S. Thanks for treating me like an ignoramus by trying to dress up a decrease in card member benefits like it is a good thing for your customers."
