This is a FIXED GEAR bike, not a single speed as listed in the title. This means that you CANNOT coast and that can make downhills very tricky. If you end up going to fast and your feet slip off the pedals they will be going around very fast!

If you insist on buying this bike, they have the freewheel version at the same price.

Ouch my poor wallet! Perfectly unfortunate timing as I just bought a MTB, thanks OP!

Perfect timing. My carbon wheels get in this week and I take the jump into a tubeless setup!

I need to get some commuter tires for my mountain bike for rails to trails paved path. I also need new clip in shoes. Guess if I could find shoes to get the 25% off and some tires this could be a good deal with free shipping.

Looking at these tires

And these shoes

Thanks. Got the Single Speed 29er. Miss my old BMX bike so this should do since I was always too tall for those anyway.

EDIT: $15 shipping on "oversized" orders.

Looking for a good, reliable entry level commuter bike with multiple gears. Any recommendations?

Anyone have any thoughts about the Nashbar road bikes? Thinking about the WR1 as an entry commuter for SWMBO. This would be for commuting around SF, so hills.

Thanks, ordered the Nashbar Flat Bar [] road bike for $259 ($225 + $15 shipping + $19 tax).

The Diamondback Insight [] for $263 (plus shipping and tax) also looks like a good deal.

If anyone is looking for a nice entry-level MTB, try this:

I bought one from them about a month ago. Very nice bike with useful upgrades. Be aware that the Suntour front fork just got recalled though for a bolt. Still, it has speedlock on the fork, mechanical disc brakes, Shimano components, and good tires that rigde the rough stuff very well. It's $499 before the 25% off, but you'll get hit with the oversized shipping of $15.

Get the fork fixed (recall) and change the seat and you're good to go! Fun bike.

Tried ordering a bike but it tacks on a $14.99 overweight shipping charge. Anyone else experiencing/experienced the same charge?
