Good pice, they may be clearing out these to get ready for the "schlage sense" model which supports iOS Bluetooth and the big kicker the new home kit.

I would say if you have an android buy this, if you have an iphone wait, and if you have a flip phone or pager stick to a regular dead bolt.

I checked into the homesite and it looks like they will not be enabling the connect lock for it .

Just curious - what happens when the batteries are low (specially during the cold winter) and I am locked outside (if I am gonna get this unit, I will not want to carry a key)?

Keep a spare key in your car, chances are if you're outside you have your car keys. It uses very little power and the battery should last a year+. It also notifies you when the battery is getting low.

I have to change my batteries out once a month. I went to rechargeable after the original batteries went out (also in a month). I also use Vera so it could be because of that it uses more battery power?

yes, batteries should last, and notify you when they are dead or dying... They are also on the inside, and should be a little warmer than outside. This one does have a backup key, so you should be creative in where you can store the key. Outside, car, in a separate garage, at a friends/parents house, etc...

What do you do now if you forget your keys and are locked out?

What's the difference between these two? The less expensive model has a ton more reviews and is $40 cheaper. The title of the cheaper one doesn't list Z-Wave but reviews within indicate that it works with Z-Wave.

Schlage Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt with Built-In Alarm, Satin Nickel, BE469NXCAM619 ($139.99) [amazon.com]

Schlage Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt with Z-Wave Technology ($179.99) [amazon.com]

Once a month? Yikes! I'd suggest contacting Schlage and getting them to see if you got a defective unit. My batteries last about 6 months with about 6-8 entry/exits each day.

edit: 1 year without Vera. 6 months with vera
