Looks like a fantastic card, and a great deal.

Didn't realize the R9 280 uses up to 250W.
Compared to my great (2-3 year old) 7850 at 130W.
The R9 270 is at 150W, but specs are barely better. Hmm.

Will 280s continue to drop or has the price plateaued as each manufacturer clears out stock?

This will probably be the lowest we get of this card, seems like retailers are looking to clear stock for a side-upgrade. Same thing happened with hd5850/70 series cards. Only way to get those cheaper were to wait years and snag one on ebay. AMD stock has been falling on failing earnings, they should stop side-grading tech, its annoying and no one wins. This has a higher stock clock vs last 280 xfx deal.

Rebate is valid until 07/15. Does that mean I can buy it and fill out the rebate before I receive the package? Also, what do you think the chances of this being cheaper on Prime day?

No you need the UPC from the box to send out the rebate. You usually attach a copy of your newegg invoice which will have the date of your purchase for XFX to approve the rebate.

Who knows what Amazon will roll out on Prime day, it's their first time doing this. I for one have found my Prime membership worth less because I now have to pay tax on the majority of my purchases (Georgia) and over time have found that Walmart has lower/same prices as Amazon. So even if they hold this deal on Amazon, I would still be losing out through tax.

Fine print of rebate form says valid on orders made between 7/1 and 7/15. Must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase (and you need the UPC before you can mail it in). I would be surprised if prime day was cheaper but who knows.

Wow, I wish I could've waited for this deal. I got the regular r9 280 just last week for the same price.

This is it! I'm assuming that there's more stock of this than the R9 290, so Newegg has been trying to clear out their stock because of the 380 stock they have.

That would explain why the R9 290's haven't been going on sale. My guess is that it was the much more popular card?

I ended up getting the Sapphire one because it will fit in my mini ITX case with no issues. $150 for this kind of performance is really nice. Crushes the 750 TI. I'll get a more powerful card a couple years from now when VR is more established.

Without debating the actual value, in terms of the uniqueness of this offer, is this not the same deal posted twice in June? I don't follow video cards specifically, is there something additional with this deal?

I have two 6870's in crossfire. The 1GB of VRAM is killing me. Was considering picking up this to replace that configuration. That being said, how much better off would I be picking up two of these for crossfire? Crossfire has been a royal pain in the ass in the past for me and just wondering if its even worth it.
