Any way to avoid Comcast installation charge for a new house?

I have been using CenturyLink at my new house and their price recently shot up past Comcast's so I'm ready to switch. Since this is a new built and never had cable before I suppose I'll need the Comcast tech to come out and do a physical install.

According to the builder my house is "cable ready" as it's already gotten the outlet in all the rooms and some sort of hook on the side of the garage, but I think it's still need to be connected to Comcast somehow.

Is this going to be an expensive install? Any way to minimize the installation cost?

Tell them you like what they offer but another provider will offer you similar service without the installation fee. They may be willing to waive it in order to gain and keep your business.

Switching to FIOS is also another way to avoid Comcast installation fees.
