Thanks! I wish they didn't have a limit of 5 though. They go on sale every month... but I live in Canada, so it's an hour drive just to pick them up.

Can anyone suggest good backup software for Blu-ray. I recently tried Clone-BD with Any DVD and wasn't able to burn to a blank BD from the program. I created an ISO image with this and was able to burn it to a blank BD but my XBone didn't recognize the disc as a Blu-ray. My computer was able to read and play the disc successfully however

Hey Rodney,

I'm not sure if you're aware, but a couple of months ago, SlySoft, the same company behind CloneDVD and AnyDVD came out with a new program called CloneBD [slysoft.com].

It works great for copying Blu-rays. Alternatively, there are open-source alternatives like ClownBD and BDRebuilder.

Hope that helps!

You Americans trying to steal our maple Syrup... no amount of BD-R's is worth one precious drop of our nectar!

Signed up for a second paypal account... And made a friend order me 5... so 15 coming, and 5 from last time... 20 spindles.

(I'm not reselling ;p I have 52 TB on HD's, and I'm tired of them breaking after a few years... so I'm doing a backup onto Blurays. yes, I know, terrible medium to backup onto... but I'm enjoying it! And even if they only last 10-15 years, I'll be happy. Better than my Hd's all dying after 5 years of run time!)

[Edited] - Fixed a word. And damn... Newegg caught on somehow... diff name, address, browser, even diff paypal... and they still canceled the order. Oh well... Anyone know when this code expires? I don't see it advertised anywhere... Hopefully I can make another order tomorrow, since its 5 per 48 hours :'(

[Edit #2] Answering my own question... it's good until 8/10

It doesn't matter what software you use - It's the Xbox One thats the problem.

http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forum...88376.aspx

It was supposed to be fixed in July 2014 - Then Microsoft backtracked, and said it was a mistake, and will be added in a future patch, shortly - A year later...and nothing. Some are speculating the hardware doesn't support BD-R, Because microsoft cheaped out on the drive... But who knows.

Your disk will probably play fine in a PS4, or a Bluray player / drive. I find these have worked on everything I've thrown it in (And I have had maybe 2 failed disks out of the 400 or so I've burned already).

But again... It doesn't matter if you buy these, or $10 per disk Verbatims, Xbox one will not play anything you burn right now. Including home movies... nice entertainment console, huh?! (I own both systems, and this is my only gripe about xbox one btw - Such a basic feature that should be supported... I know, piracy, yada yada... but come on, this is the digital age, I have so many home movies I've burned to bluray, and the one console I have thats marketed as a full entertainment system, won't play them... Irony!

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I'm really disappointed that my Xbox One can't play BD-Rs. I purchased a blu-ray burner and some BD-R discs that was on here from newegg a couple of weeks ago with the intention of making copies of my blu-rays since my 1 year old daughter has the tendency of taking them out of the packaging. I got rid of my PS3 once I got a Xbox One because I was only using it as a blu-ray player and am now regretting that decision. Hopefully MS steps it up and supports BD-R in the near future.

Just thought I'd let you know that the "Limit" per customer generally resets itself after 48 hours in Newegg's System.

So, you should be able to reorder again about 2 or 3 days after your first order has processed.

Are we at the point where these are comparable to dvd-r as far as reliability for data backup (I don't like relying solely on HDD backups)

15-30 years, I believe. They last longer than DVD - Depending on brand/quality of the discs... theres so many factors, it's hard to say which brand will be better than dvds, and which wont.

And other factors, such as is it in a dark place...a hot place, etc. Are they reliable as a backup? Probably not forever... but I'd say at least 10-15 years, providing you arent storing them in the sun. get a good case for them... throw them in the closet, and they'll last 10-20 years...or until you buy the next optical device!

Is the code working for anyone else? I don't see it on the offer page anymore, and I'm getting code error when trying to order another one. (Works initially... but then once I input payment, and I'm about to confirm, it says theres an issue with the code)
