This looks nicer than some of the regular black car adapters and a decent price

The charger has a more permanent feel that the plastic charger this replaced. The dial ports allows me to start the day charged and ready for whatever chaos is thrown my way.

Some reviews say that since it doesn't have the spring elements on both sides, it slips out of certain cars' DC ports. Looks extremely nice, but I'll pass for a plastic one with springs.

This is true. Also, it isn't long enough to make constant contact with the power source.

Looks really nice, could be really awesome, but fails in some vehicles.

Any recommendations on a better one? I could use one for traveling but I don't want to take the gamble on this one if it might not work in a rental car.

With one BIG exception, this is the most impressive 12v charger I have ever seen. Solid stainless steel that is heavy, looks awesome and feels industructable. You can use this as a hammer to break glass or anything else. Most men I showed this to went gaga over it. Women, not so much. maybe a phallic thing? This a great and unique $7 gift......with one serious reservation.......

......This does not fit some cars.

I bought a similar one on SD about three months ago. I had to mod it to work.

There is no "nipple" on the end which means no contact to the + power contact on some cars. I dropped a small piece of copper down into my 12v port that fits where the "nipple" would go and it works well. My 12v port is verticle in my center console so the copper naturaly fills (falls down into) the + contact. I'm not sure it would be so easy if your port is on the dashboard and horizontal. Moreover, there is no side spring loaded contact to hold it in place so it sits alittle loose in some cars. Not a problem for me, but can be if your port is horizontal.

Something about a piece of steel sticking out of power port seems high risk to me
