Thread Details

Hello,

I got the Southwest Chase Credit card and got 50K miles. I renewed for one year by paying 99 dollars (they add 6000 points) so practically I spend 39 dollars.

However, I have still not used the miles.

If I cancel the credit card, will the miles expire immediately or it will stay for a year or so..similar to United Mileage Explorer card...

Thanks,
FB

The miles do not expire until you have 24 months of earning inactivity.

Even if you did not use fly southwest in those 24months you could use Southwest's shopping portal to accrue miles then you would be good for another 24 months.

Same here. Sw no longer works for me either and I have 60,000 miles. I did get an offer to sell them for $575 so may do that. They will not see another $99 from me.

You can buy gift cards with your SW points. 60,000 miles will get you $600 worth of gift cards. (Target, Macy's, lowes, restaurants, etc).

You can also extend them with Rapid Rewards dining. I've used this program to extend points for airlines that I haven't flown recently.
