Help please! I take care of a foster child every weekend. I want to give him the ability to buy games online with a credit card. However, I do not want to pay monthly fees or carry a large balance.

What do I do? What to parents do?

Thank-you for ANY input!!!!

No funnies or sarcasm please!shake head

What game system does he have? if its a wiiU or anything nintendo, then just buy a nintendo e shop card available in a lot of denominations. There are also playstation cards if that is the system that he has. iTunes cards if its an app he is interested in.

What gaming console are we talking about here? Also, I am pretty sure you can input the CC info and have it saved, but require a password when making a purchase. That might be best.

If gaming on a console, they have gift cards you can buy similar to itunes cards if you're familiar with those. If you're talking about mobile games like andriod or iOS, the same applies.

If you're talking about PC games, you should be able to buy a prepaid reloadable VISA or AMEX gift card, but those usually have some fees. A no-fee option is to use a virtual credit card where you can set the balance and expiration date. I know Citibank credit cards offer this service but not sure of any others.

it depends what platform he is on. most (probably all) have some sort of giftcard system, where you can give XYZ monies/credit and they can pick what they want.

Even still...Steam has gift cards...EA / Origins has cards...Windows 10 has cards...what other options might there be?

They are not as common, took me a while to find one as a gift a while back. Not your standard in the grocery checkout line.

Steam is common. Windows is more common as they are Xbox cards. EA is not AS common, but they should be in your grocery stores' big card area...usually they are not listed as Origin though, but it will look like a card for The Sims.

Gamestop display.

I guess I haven't looked in the last year, but they were always right there (steam/ea) near the Facebook cards.

I used to get the EA cards from Target when I played Lord of Ultima.

They buy it for the child themselves so the kid doesn't do anything stupid, or they buy a vendor-specific card which other people in this thread have mentioned.
