So I'm getting tired of reading parable based books on finance. Can anyone recommend any textbooks possibly that will actually explain 401ks, 403bs, mutual funds, roth IRAs, investing, and so on. All the new finance books talk big about how to save money through anecdotal information; however, I don't think these concepts are actually explained that well.

Read any of the Bogleheads books. They have great information and give you a full perspective of everything you should consider in your financial life.

Use Google and WIki as your friend.

And about investing... no one has the answers. But there is the safe safer and safest way to do something or should I say the risk or risker and riskiest way of doing something.

My dad never took chances... this has created a person who always take chances. Regarding investing, you learn from your mistakes. Good Luck.

Personally I have some strategies that have worked pretty well for myself.. but I can tell you that they go against everything I learned.
