Bought this last week when it was on sale. Used it Friday night outside for about half a movie (heat and mosquitoes aren't that great in La right now...), worked pretty good attached to a laptop via hdmi. We used the built in speakers, worked fine for the Nirvana documentary. Planning another movie night this weekend, we liked it!

not sure why they removed this exact topic last night. but i was on it with a couple replies and it was gone within 10 min.

anyway its a great little projector for $79 from last deal. but its going back because my projector has a floater black dot with the size of a giant bean on the projected image. the lense is fine. it must be on the poor quality "rectina" inside.

speaker is surprising loud.

I'm looking to add a TV to our garage, possibly a 32" or a little more lcd/led.

This looks like a pretty cheap alternative I can possibly hang from the ceiling. I'm kind of a stickler for picture quality though.

Would this be a good option?

I have this from the deal last week. I'd say for you, if you're a "stickler for picture quality", that this isn't what you want. It's decent quality and a fun toy, but it's low resolution and isn't incredibly crisp.

That said for the $78 I paid the value in incredible.

in for one. why not. I'll see how it compares to my quimi mini. At the very least I can let friends borrow this one instead.

How is this compared to ACER K11? I know this is a discontinued model but, would like to check because my friend is willing to sell this ACER K11 used one online. If ACER K11 is better then I would grab it from him Smilie.

The ACER K11 is a better projector, but you pay more for it. It has a higher resolution of 1280x1024 versus this having 800x480 resolution. Basically the difference between DVD quality (Abdtech) and a sub-1080p High Definition picture (Acer K11). For $80 you'll be hard pressed to find a better projector elsewhere, but for $400ish you could do much better.

Along the same lines though Sony will be releasing a new projector this October, the MPCL1 for $350 that is a micro laser projector. It will have a resolution of 1920x720 resolution.

The good:
laser projector provides a sharp image up to 120 inches
1920x720 resolution (good for games and movies)
auto focus even on uneven surfaces
micro HDMI
wireless display support
2 hour battery with plugin support

The bad:
35 lumens (brighter than you would think, but you'll need a dark room)
1920x720 resolution (while a decent resolution, not full 1080p)
2 hour battery (not long enough for most uses)
