I'm not looking for the best deal, but for the highest cashback incentives. Any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated...

Unfortunately, almost zero cashback opportunities exist anymore. Sites like Expedia, Orbitz, etc long ago got rid of cashback for plane tickets; the only thing you will get cashback on is vacation packages, which are often more expensive than buying separately, the higher price well outweighing any small % cash back.

The place where you can benefit, is through credit card. If you get an Airline branded card, you can get miles towards future flights. However, if you don't fly that much, stick to a rewards points program that lets you use the points for other things besides travel - AmEx Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou points come to mind

But really, the thing you should focus on is the the thing you say "isn't important" in your original post. You absolutely should spend your time looking for the best airline deal for your flight. Air tickets remain a wildly volatile item, so vigilant checking and use of email alerts from sites like SkyScanner and Kayak can save you a lot of money, again far more than any Cashback.

Yes, it may seem like a giant pain at first, but you quickly get into a rhythm. Most of us on Travel boards are actually quite addicted to it!

Hope this helps.

I'm willing to book the vacation package, but where can I get the most cashback, I see almost nothing for travel.

Just check the various CB sites (who I can't mention here)

One of the biggest has 2.6% back on Expedia vacation packages and 1.25% back on Orbitz vacations.

But these low %s bring me back to my first point - it is MUCH slicker to take all the time you're using trying to nail down a 2-3% discount and use it towards booking a flight which can save you 20-60% off. You can then focus on the hotel portion alone, again using competitive market forces to get a much much larger discount

If time is one of your limiters, then look into sites like Groupon, Dunhill Travel and other vacation package companies. Prices will be higher, but you benefit from the convenience of all-in-one.

[COLOR="Purple"]We are flying into Roatan in Nov for a couple of months stay and got the flights for 17,500 miles each one way on our AAdvantage credit cards from our small town MidWest local airport. Just $22.40 in tax added. /COLOR]
