Windows 10 upgrade: How to get past "BUFFALO TurboPC EX Series" on my Windows 7 PC

NobleCrusader 352 55 August 10, 2015 at 03:09 PM
Windows 7 upgrade advisor reports that I have "BUFFALO TurboPC EX Series" on my Windows 7 PC. It won't let me upgrade until it is removed. I can't find it anywhere. Any ideas? I can't get past it.

I've tried to locate it using:
Revo Uninstaller
Glary Utilities
System Tray Cleaner
FreeFixer
System Explorer

But can't find it. It's not listed in my Task Manager, either.

FWIW, here's some info on the offending software:
http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/BU...ogram.aspx

and

http://www.freefixer.com/library/...EXE-94223/

Any ideas? I can't get past it. TIA!

have you tried uninstalling it from add/remove programs?

How do I remove BUFFALO TurboCopy?
Quickly and completely remove BUFFALO TurboCopy from your computer by downloading "Should I Remove It?", its 100% FREE and installs in seconds (click the button below).

------------

Not that I advocate randomly installing stuff online but it looks like a legit site.

If it's not in the Programs menu (control panel), try installing it fresh THEN uninstalling it. Not sure what the Win10 upgrader is hanging up on but it may be as simple as an orphaned registry entry. If the above doesn't work maybe CCleaner (registry cleaner). Or if you are sure the EXEs and such are gone, manually look for registry entries and delete them.

Personally I'd never upgrade the OS just do a clean install.

Thank you. No luck finding it, thought. Any other suggestions to try? Thanks!

Have you tried copying the path to the unistaller from your link above
Code:
C:\Windows\UN091114.EXE /UNINST
and pasting it in a run dialog box (win-r) and hitting ok?

you could also try searching your computer for the word buffalo or for UN091114.EXE
You can always manually delete files if they aren't in use. This seems like something that might be better to remove nicely. It looks like this program could have been bundled with software that came with an external hard drive possibly backup software. Look for things in add/remove programs that might have an association with any hard drive you've ever used.

Appears to be a legit program you installed with your NAS or other BUFFALO product,

I'd look at running :

http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/

See if it's in the services or startup and remove it from there.

if he wants to get win10 for free then he has to upgrade first before clean installing.

Well, I tried all your suggestions (which I appreciate),and finally the last one worked: reinstalled the Buffalo software, then deleted it. Win 10 then finally loaded after several other issues came up.

I might be removing Win 10 however, because my NVIDIA card and multiple-monitor setup isn't working. Might have to go back to Win 7. You'd think Microsoft had heard of NVIDA and multiple monitor setups.

Probably Microsoft doesn't like your pr0n collection. That's why it refused to install Windows 10.

It isn't up to MS to maintain drivers for video cards. Nvidia has a windows 10 compatible driver so I suggest you update to the latest driver ASAP. Also realize that both Nvidia and AMD are having driver issues with Windows 10. It's still very new and it might take up to 6 months to iron out all the bugs.

What finally worked for me was I installed it "again," then uninstalled it with REVO Uninstaller.
