I was just about to post this as I just received an E-mail notification from Adorama. I have to say these speakers are great. Have them connected to my TV along with a 12" sub and they sound great. I would highly recommend them to any of my friends/family.

Can someone please advise (I'm pretty illiterate with audio things)? Are these good to stream music from a smartphone? Do I need to buy a subwoofer for them? How do they compare to Bose Soundlink that was recently on sale here? Thank you!

These are significantly larger than the Bose Soundlink but sound significantly better, as well. Think of these as studio monitor speakers (meaning audio pros would use them in studio) that also have bluetooth. They sound really good for music. I have the 3.5" version in my bedroom and love the sound and don't feel a need for a subwoofer, and these 4.5" ones will have even better bass.

That's a heck of a deal. I almost jumped on the 3.5s that were on here for $100 but had two concerns: First, I was worried about buyers remorse if I got the 3.5 and not the 4.5, With this deal, that is now a moot point.

My second concern revolved around the sound quality of BT audio. Does anyone know what codec/protocol these speakers use for BT? I'm also wrestling with the fact that BT, in general provides a poorer sound quality experience, so what's the point of having studio monitors that are supposed to be pro-quality reproduce music that is not as accurate as a a wired device?

I use these primarily to play music from my phone or the wife's Ipod without an amp and they sound really good (that's my terminology as I'm no audiophile laugh out loud).

I got the 3.5's as well the other week from an SD but haven't had a chance to use them yet.

Did some searching and found a FAQ on their website that says it uses Bluetooth 3.0+EDR. I can say though that I paired my phone up with the 3.5" version and it sounded really, really, good.

These do have both RCA, 1/4" and minijack wired connections as well.

I'd like to see if these will fit the spot in my bedroom.

Great deal! I got these for $169.95 back in March.

Thoughts: I rarely use the BT connection, but it's handy to have music playing through both my computer (via cable) and my paired phone (via BT) at the same time. Whilst I don't profess to be an audiophile, I don't notice any real difference in sound quality. Given their bluetooth features, I highly doubt may people are buying these for use in the studio.

If you plan on using these for movies / anything where latency or lip-sync is important, you'll have to use the cable rather than BT (since they don't have aptx).
