Robinhood commission free trading app is officially released for Android on Google Play [google.com] store.

$0 commissions, $0 minimum balance brokerage account. Sign up in minutes if you don't have an account yet. This service has been out for iOS for a while and a closed beta for Android was also available, but it is now available to all Android users.

Been using the service since January and it has been great. It sucked having to keep my old iPhone 4 around to access it though. Full access on my G2 now.

Is out now. Just got the email.

Robinhood started with the idea that a technology-driven brokerage could operate with significantly less overhead.

We cut out the fat that makes other brokerages costly — hundreds of storefront locations and manual account management.

Anyone else kinda nervous about the permissions needed by an app of this type?

Quote :
Version 1.0.0 can access:

"This item cannot be installed in your device's country."

I hate living abroad sometimes. But very rarely.

I signed up via invite a while back and got my approval within an hour or so. Not sure what the exact timeframe is now that its open access, but hopefully you'll be trading sometime today.

So I go through the sign up process and get to the step with a check box to enroll in fdic but I misclicked and didn't check the box. I didn't notice until I already clicked continue and there was no way to go back! Seems as if my application is now submitted and there's nowhere I can find to modify it. Anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Touche. I've already signed up in any case, just struck me as odd that they required the ones that they did.

Ya. I wasn't too happy with that list of permissions, but nothing a rooted phone couldn't fix Smilie

Not sure about the sign up issue. I would try contacting them about it.
