Repairing Windows Media Player file

allison77090 236 14 August 14, 2015 at 06:38 PM
I have a webcam temporarily set up at my house to record to my laptop. The program is Life Cam V5000. I started recording and an hour later I wanted to see quality of video. I clicked the button to stop recording. It stopped. I then clicked the record button again to start it back up. So I opened the file to view it & in the details it shows the length of video "0:00" yet I have recorded previously and other files show the length of time. I can watch the video but it doesn't allow me to fast forward. Anyone have any idea how to fix these files?

trying playing the file with VLC

It sounds like when you started recording again, it may have overwritten the existing file.

Ultimately, if the goal is to use it as a security camera, you'd be better off it it only recorded when there was motion. Look at the programs listed in this thread from a few years ago: http://archive.slickdeals.net/f/1991752-webcam-security-software?v=1&src=SiteSearch
