walmart.com - also free shipping for >35. it's in a bundle pack of 8 or so full size boxes. I understand some people might need the single serve convenience for various reasons but in terms of absolute numbers just not a good deal.

Are you suggesting you can cook small portions of the larger boxes in 3 min 30 sec in the microwave? I guess I've never tried that. I don't have extra $, but will still pay for convenience of 3 min macaroni.

sure you can - just portion out the bigger box into smaller servings. open the cheese and divide it accordingly. cook in a tupperware thing in the microwave.

but again, I understand a convenience like anyone...but double the price per ounce is a hard to swallow for me.

okay.. so when you said more expensive.. you mean doing something that would be on this [tlc.com].

Plus you'd have to fiddle around and devide it pretty much exactly and fiddle with cooking time. Now, let's see you get a 7 year old to do that.

it's just math and common sense. 11c/oz vs 22c/oz. that is a quite a difference. if you are a big family it would add up over time along with all the other rookie errors you are making by shopping price drops only. this totally missing the basic rule - cost per oz.

now, if it is a one time purchase and lasts a single person a year then enjoy the convenience - it's prob worth it.

that's why I cant speak to what is best for everyone but simply pointing that out for those who like the math behind it.

nah, mac and cheese is forgiving. you just fudge a bit and it always comes out fine.

They do. This is just the one where you supply the bowl.

You can't make the normal kind in the microwave to come out with the same texture as the easy mac type. They add some sort of mysterious white powder to it that lets it microwave up without ruining itself.

I wouldn't compare the two as the same product - the box type is cheaper in general, but this is a good price for the Easy Mac product. It is not quite as good as the Target Clearance deal, which sold for 75 cents a 4-pack of bowls (8 oz of unprepared product).
