wow.. I just bought in on the $800 and no tax deal thru newegg over the weekend.. this deal isn't bad, BUT...

this is only worth it if you will actually have a real use for that $300 to spend at dell. otherwise I think the other deal is better, although it is currently over. Plus you still will have to pay tax @ dell for most people.

Newegg only collects for NJ, CA, and one or two other states.

details on that dell eGift card:
"Discount Details

Receive a $300 Dell PROMO eGift Card with this purchase sent via email in 10-20 days. TERMS & CONDITIONS APPLY**

Expires Monday, August 24, 2015
Promotional Gift Card Offer: Offer contingent upon purchase of eligible product; Promotional card not valid if eligible product is returned for a refund. If eligible product is returned for a refund after the card has been redeemed, the value of the redeemed card will be deducted from the refund amount. Promotional Gift Card ships separately from purchase and typically arrives in 10-20 days from ship date via email and carries a 90 day expiration (except where prohibited by law). Dell can only accept a limited number of Promo Cards per purchase and funds may not be consolidated with Prepaid or other Promo Cards. Multi-card payment can be requested by phone sales only. Terms and conditions apply. See "http://www.dell.com/giftcard/promoterms""

Make note you only have 90 days to spend that $300. This might have been worth it for me, if I had not just bought a GTX 980 ti 2 weeks ago.

*******
hmm.. did a little math on this.. and this deal is really pretty good, especially if you have a true use for that $300 eGiftcard..

for me the monitor would cost me (including tax):

953.99 + tax for me... $1,029.99
you get 5 percent back via dell preferred customer (free sign up)
-47.65
-300 gift card

you can get 2% back at AHEM, other cash back sites too.
so for me, the net price would be around $682.34... I just don't have anything else I would spend that $300 gift card on really.

the newegg deal was 800 from this weekend, minus 1 percent from AHEM, another cash back site, so it is $794 with no strings attached. However, buying direct from Dell insures you have a full warranty, and also that you have their extra warranty feature they only give you if you buy direct, "Dell Premium Panel Guarantee".

if anyone is looking to buy a video card with that eGiftcard.. man the prices are horrible. The GTX 980 by PNY is still listed at 600!! it should cost around 500 hundred or less.. looks like they don't even carry the GTX 980 ti. Just the Titan X at $1,000.

This is the biggest issue with me, that you have to spend it on Dell, or try to flip the e-Gift card (that expires in 90 days).

Not sure if I could refuse delivery from Newegg since my monitor shipped, or if they would take it back anyway without charging me return shipping.

wow this is a no brainer. $1050-$105 (DCB)-$300 (gift card)-$50(dell reward GC)-$595. Even without the $300 gift card it's $895 and that's $10 more than I paid at newegg. Like someone else mentioned. If you are in a state that newegg doesn't charge tax then newegg will be an option to think about.

I ended up using a spare $100 gift card so the total after all the gift cards and cashback's it's $495.

BUT.... this monitor has now dropped in price on sale twice in the last 2 months or for $800 direct from newegg. The dell deal is only worth it if you can actually spend the 300 egift card, or want to try flipping it

I think we will see this monitor drop in price around $700 once those new Acer Predator 34" 21:9's come out in September.

With employee discount $906.19
5% rewards -$45.31
egc -$300.00
10%discover(20%later) -$181.24(if you have double cash back)
+tax(rate * $906.19)

Finally $379.64+tax, no brainer for sure.

what do folks use this monitor for mostly? seems like for anything other than movie watching, a dual U2415 would be bigger.

AMEX also has offer for $100 credit for purchase of $599. Just got my credit this week for purchase of a laptop last week. YMMV.
