Glad to see prices on these are starting to drop. At about 800 this would be worth it in my opinion. Still though, the Macbook Air is due for a refresh very soon so it may be worth it to wait for that seeing as it will have the much more powerful core U opposed to this and its somewhat lethargic core M.

I just returned my 12" MacBook today and bought a 13" Pro that was on sale. Honestly, I loved the new MacBook and thought the new keyboard was fantastic after getting used to it. It didn't seen to stutter or freeze up any more than any other computer I've used, and it makes the 13" Pro look like a tank now!

But I just had this bad feeling that the prices on these were going to start dropping and I would have been pretty bitter then. The prices are dropping sooner than I thought. For a four month old new Apple product this is a significant discount.

I think the second generation is going to be the better value and will probably have a more reasonable starting price for the power and features it has.

Thats what I'm waiting for. I don't know if it would be an "awesome buy", but it definitely seems like a more reasonable price that wouldn't create so much eye-rolling from even Apple's most loyal fans.

Personally, I'd prefer a Retina MacBook Air 11". Better keyboard, More power and Useful ports. But since that doesn't (and likely will never) exist then I'm fine in settling with a MacBook One. The keyboard sucks and dongling in accessories is annoying but it is a pretty nice looking machine.

Aren't the 13" MBP with 256gb ssd/8gb ram like $1199 during those eBay daily deals? Unless you really need the weight saving, spend $50 extra and get the MBP

Where are you seeing those prices? Everything I've seen with 256GB has been around $1300. Anything below that is 128GB.

An MBP or an MBA would be much better than this thing, in my opinion. It's a downgrade to both of those in almost every way. I love my Apple devices and my MBA, but I really don't understand what the point of this new line was.

I cannot take this after Intel's skylake lines of CPUs introduced in recent conference.

Really nice laptop. Just needs another gen or two to get a bit more power and a lower price.
