Best deal for 5-bike Hitch Mount Rack?

renerd 12 14 August 21, 2015 at 06:20 AM More Amazon Deals
I'm looking for the best deal on a good quality 5-bike Hitch Mount Rack for 2" hitch. I don't need it right away, but I'd like to get one in the next couple of weeks.

Ebay and some other places have some really cheap, low-quality versions that I'm staying away from. (These are the ones that have no brand name and look they will snap off).

So far the best one I've found is this one (Allen Deluxe 552RR 2015 for ~ $128 shipped): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TRTT178?psc=1

I can look back in slickdeals and other sites and find some really good deals in the past on this bike rack and some other name brand ones, but nothing current. Anyway, just thought I'd check in here before biting the bullet.

Personally, I wouldn't trust a >4 bike hitch mount unless it was a North Shore Rack (expensive and only works with mountain bikes). I had something similar to what you linked, but nearly lost a bike on the highway when a strap broke.

Now, I use a hitch rack and a roof rack when I want to carry a lot of bikes. That said, my bikes are worth more than my car, so if you are carrying Walmart bikes disregard this.

Good insight! I've actually been wondering about that. The main problem is that my minivan doesn't even have base rails, so I can't even look at roof options without figuring out a base roof solution. Our bikes are in-betweeners -- Specialized, mid-level. Nothing crazy expensive.
