This is a Docsis 3.0 modem, not good for gigabit ethernet if you expect to have that service soon. I might be getting gigabit ethernet in a few months so need a Doscis 3.1 modem, which are not widely available yet.

Great deal, would buy this if I didn't already have a netgear modem.

For those currently subscribing to TWC for internet access:

16 downstream channels are required for TWC service over 100mbps. If you have Maxx now, or are soon to get it, this is the type of modem that you want. 8 downstream channels will be limited to 100mbps regardless of plan for which you are paying. Time Warner will not configure 8 channels for more.

Thanks. I needed this. Just got upgraded to 200Mbps down on TWC for the same price as 100Mbps and didn't know my SB6141 didn't support it so I've been preventing myself from getting the faster speed.

???

The SB6183 is the one I need. I don't really trust the other brands.
I feel the $90 is worth it so that I'm not spending $45/month and only getting half the speed.

Not everyone has the same requirements. The approved modem list allows you to verify what modem meets your service level requirements.

from what I've read on dslreports. all cable companies are requiring 16x4 capable modem such as the sb6183 for over 100mbps speeds
