Porting Rules:

You can not port from T-Mobile Network to Pink Plans
You can not port from Verizon Network to Red Plans
You can not port from AT&T Network to Blue Plans
You can not port from Sprint Network to Yellow Plans

Review article at Prepaid Phone News: http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2...ffers.html

Question and Answers Section:

*Anyone who's signed up: Can you please tell us Slickdealers if you get a T-Mobile login (i.e. the number is registered to your name), or is it like Harbor Mobile where you really don't get access to T-mo, and the number is not officially "owned" by you?

* No international text and roaming per a fellow SD'er : "Thank you so much for your interest in Smartel.mobi
We currently support Canada and Mexico and are working on many more countries to come. "

*Potentially anecdotal evidence* : So I've been a customer for a little over a week now. Cell service itself is great. As great as Tmo post paid service. You get the 10GB stash, you get your own 10GB of data, etc. Name Called ID is still a bit screwy but I think that's just a fact of the deal of Smartel, Harbor, etc. Number caller ID is obviously fine.
Had a few billing issues and mishaps (cancelled/renewed/got charged twice), so I had to resort to customer service. It is slow, about a 24 hour turn around. Though the last few rounds was like 30 mins turn around. Long story short, they fixed up the mishaps and everything is dandy now. I would chalk it to a start up growing pains. The good news for us customers is that they at least seem like they're customer service oriented (or maybe it's just my case, but hopefully not). Very happy now. Hopefully this lasts longer than Harbor and/or we get grandfathered in by papa Tmo if shit hits the fan.
I was not paid/coerced/encouraged/etc by Smartel to write the above Wink.

Didn't know these guys existed, and in case others don't either maybe explain the "PINK" = TMo and "Gold" is the plan level

Overall, it seems like a good deal. I might give them a shot since at $35 it's the same I pay now with Cricket but would get 4x data.

I wonder if you get the international text and calls as well as the wifi calling TMo offers.

Changed the wording to make it clear. They are not different promos. They are the features of one SINGLE plan

Tmobile says I would have 2G service at my house, but this place's coverage map says I would have 4G? Is the pink plan T Mobile service or att (I have att and verizon 4G here)

I would say Tmo, but nowhere is it specifically listed on their site, plus the "Pink" coverage plan lists EVDO which is weird.

So this is like HarborMobile pretty much?

I pay $33 with taxes with HM, and only get 2.5Gb data. For $2 more here at $35 I'd get 10Gb with rollover. Hmm .. tempting. I wonder if porting from HM to this works. Anyone tried it?

T-Mobile and Verizon both show no coverage at my house , but the coverage maps for those respective companies each show lte via this website. Something isn't right.

According to their FAQ, you can't.

Yeah thanks. I was just reading their stuff and came back to comment. I guess I can port elsewhere and port back, not a huge issue I guess.

Anyone who's using them - do you get your own T-mo login? Or is it like Harbor Mobile where you're not really the account owner per se. Thanks.

The coverage checker embedded in that page is an inline frame pointing to T-Mobile as the source of the map.

Interesting! Wonder if music unlimited / international roaming is included.

Note: the FAQ mentions there is a $10 activation / sign-up fee. But I don't know if the fee applies to this promotion.

Edit: No international calling included: "Yes, please inquire about adding an International service for just $6/mo. We can add it to your account."

1. can you do a harbor mobile number transfer?
Quote :
Porting out is simple (yet sad for us to see you go).

Send an email to support@harbormobile.com with your request to port out. Please be sure to include your name, billing zip, number your would like to port out, and the carrier that you are porting out to. Please note that your line must be active and paid up to port out. Lines take 48 hours to be released before porting out.

If you are looking to move over to your own account on T-Mobile, then please request a change of responsibility in your email to support.

Do NOT try porting out your number before we have supplied you with your account number and PIN and ensured that your line has been released, as we will be unable to release your line. If you have submitted a port out request with your other carrier before being ensured that your line is released, then you must have the carrier cancel the port out request before we release your line
2. Can someone confirm its T-mo for pink
Howard forums~ pink - tmo

3. Unlimited calling to other countries?
Not included in this plan

Can you port your number later?????

cheapest porting is Ring.to

IMHO, this totally kills the $30 Walmart plan. Just $5 more for more double data + rollover, and no longer need to rely on far-from-perfect VoIP after the 100 minutes. Definitely worth it.

Interesting. I couldn't find anything about Smartel on Howard Forums.

I think saying the plan is $30/mo (in the title) is misleading. It's really a $35/mo plan with a $5 discount the first two months.

Thanks for the info, OP!
