Not really. This is still a TLC based drive. You can get a 960 GB Crucial M500 MLC SSD for $279.99 after-rebate before any cashback or coupon stacking quite often at TigerDirect.

From AnandTech [anandtech.com]:
"The downside of being the slowest modern drive we have tested is that OCZ can only compete in price, but unfortunately the pricing isn't aggressive enough for the Trion to be competitive at all."

That about sums it up. LMAO

It might be cheap because its a 960 GB SSD, but I think I'd rather get a Crucial for about the same price or maybe $5 more.

Isn't this the same drive you posted here last month for $299.99? This is $45 less. Just wondering why you bothered posting it before if it really is that bad.

"There is usually some level of decline from the initial street price soon after the launch, but in all honesty OCZ needs to cut the prices by 15-20% for the Trion to have a place on the market." From the same page. Now 30% cheaper. Problem solved.

Because when I posted it, the drive had been on the market for less than a week. There were hardly no reviews on it and I didn't realize it was TLC based until after I shared. I definitely wouldn't post it again at that price.

Considering I now have effectively 10% CB at TigerDirect (2 x 5% for Discover IT), why would I get this when I could get the 960 GB M500 for $250 AR or less? They even sent me a $25 off $100 coupon recently, which I'm not even factoring in.

I wouldn't worry too much about speed in benchmarks. In real world you're just not going see the difference unless you're transferring between 2 ssd. That said, I'm starting away from TLC as long as possible.

Most have since it's own by Toshiba now. Toshiba ocz drives haven't had any major problem yet.

I totally agree, but when you have other options like the PNY CS2111 or Crucial M500 (as old as it may be), I'd rather get MLC for about the same price. Those will probably drop even more in the coming months, and buying a $250+ SSD is something you aren't going to do very often.

Is ~$0.265 per GB attractive? Sure. Will this deal work out great for many people? Absolutely.

I have no problem with OCZ. I'm happily enjoying my FAR 240 GB OCZ ARC 100 SSD from the McAfee Bundles. I just wish that instead of going the TLC route to bring the cost of drives down they stuck with quality. Even Crucial is working on TLC drives now: HERE [pcgamer.com]

I have no issues with OCZ either. I've been using my Agility 3 240 GB for years and even after retiring it from my home machine, I stuck it into my work computer which is an old Dell M1530 laptop. It was the best thing I did since it was running slower and slower every day. It's now like a brand new machine. The Agility 3 is getting more of a workout now as well and it's been flawless.

Every OCZ SSD drive I've owned bricked. Pass

I don't care if Toshiba owns them.

The review says this drive is basically pretty horrible. OCZ not ready for prime time with a TLC drive.

I agree, I am not sure what OCZ/Toshiba were thinking with the Trion line. Their Arc series is at a good price/performance - especially with the warranty. But these with the poor performance/price and high power consumption......Confused
