I received a coupon mailer from Staples last week with two coupons on it.
1) $20 off $50 for online purchases of "regular" priced merchandise
2) $10 off $10 of purchases in store

The 1st coupon states it can't be used with any other coupon or discount, but doesn't mention anything about items with rebates. It just states it must be used on "regular" priced items. Also, Staples rebate details don't exclude the use of items purchased with a coupon.

Staples has this case of paper [staples.com]for $14.99 after rebate. For your purchase, though, you're adding it to your cart at the regular price of $53.99.

I had this shipped to the store so that I could use coupon #2 above when I'm picking it up.

Now, the 1st coupon didn't work when I applied it, stating I wasn't buying anything at regular price. But I was, so I did a quick chat with staples chat group, and they quickly applied the coupon after I placed my order.

So... I paid $53.99 - $20 coupon = $33.99. I submitted the online instant rebate immediately after purchase, so will receive a $39 Visa gift card in a few weeks. Then, when I go to the store today to pick up my paper, I'll get $10 of free stuff with the 2nd coupon.

In total, I'll get a case of paper and $10 worth of stuff, and make $5 in the process.

(I'm in California, with stupid-high sales tax, so only end up really making about $2. That's why my title doesn't state a dollar amount to be made)
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Not really a deal unless you happened to receive the exact mailer as OP.

Guess I should post my deal about finding $5 on the sidewalk and getting a deal for a free burger at MCD.

The case is not "regular price" as it has a rebate. The CSr should NOT have overridden the coupon.

TBH, 95 cents is not a huge MM. If it was a fiver, that's a different story.

Changed the title per your feedback. I had tried to put it in that category to begin with...

I thought this was a good deal not because of the money back, but because of the $63 worth of stuff for free.

once every few years staples does 5 rm or 10 rm cases for "free" after rebates... taxes apply though so for sales tax... not free.. unless you scam a tax exempt status.,,

Repped for effort.

Although, after trying for months to liquidate those pesky rebate cards from paper (back when it was FREE)...I've decided they're not worth the hassle. You don't have a PIN, so you can't use them for cash. They will rarely ring up for the full value...so you have to buy something 10-20% under, and then deal with the "scraps". And the only way I've found to do that is to buy an Amazon gift balance.

All the laws were changed in October 2014 to make prepaid debit cards useful ONLY for purchases, which given the above hassles...isn't very useful.

From now on, I'm going to take the paper check route (if applicable) and take a picture of it to deposit it to my Serve card.

Does 25 off 75 coupons no longer work on sale items?
Do any coupons work on sale items?

Consolidate them into 1 $500 GC with a pin. It has never been an issue at all the grocery stores near me. Of course, there is a fee involved but may be worth the "hassle" to you.

How so? You stand at the register and have the clerk run each card for the full value?

Maybe restaurants are different, but they can't seem to run them at full value (perhaps because of expected tip).

Unfortunately, all are pocket change now, so I missed that opportunity. They'd still work for parking meters. Wink

I just pay my cable, cell phone or other 'utility' bill that accepts CC... works fine and I don't lose any money...
