FYI: CM can be flashed onto the fire phone for those interested in a more stock android experience:

Once rooted this phone becomes amazing, theres about 4-5 steps and very easy to complete.

As an FYI, some people have reported problems side-loading Google Services on to the AT&T phones. Those phones updated to 4.6.4, which apparently leads to problems with Google Services, forcing them to downgrade to 4.6.3:

It appears to be only a handful of people, and it didn't affect my wife's AT&T phone that had been unlocked previously. What I'd suggest is if you're going this route to get a different SIM card and put it in the phone before ever turning it on. Unlock it immediately and hopefully it'll only update to 4.6.3 instead of 4.6.4. Just a suggestion.

I would definitely suggest getting a 1? sim card off of Amazon at the same time as ordering the phone and using it to unlock the phone right away. Then update to 4.6.3. That opens up the phone for future use, as well as easing the issues with Google Play.

Does it need to be activated on a cell service to get a year of prime, I just want to use it as a back up phone if something happens to my current one.

No, but you do need to turn it on and connect it to your WiFi.

I would still get an additional SIM card just to unlock it when you first pull it out of the packaging. That way it'll update to 4.6.3, which works great. Otherwise it'll update to 4.6.4, which is leading to problems with Google Services...

From jump they should have did "Pay for 2 years of Prime, get a free Fire."

At this point, even the general reaction (read: the lack there of) even free w/ one year of Prime probably isn't exciting enough to make a dent in the overstock they're sitting on. And ever second that stock sits it has less and less relevance.

It was Jeff's idea. I'm wondering if Jeff is gonna fire (no pun necessary) Jeff?

lol

eBay just gave me double points on purchases $50+, check your emails, it gives few more bucks in savings. I have got it directly from Amazon yesterday because of the bunch of points unused at Amazon. Year of prime added upon shipping, no sign in even necessary (when bought from amazon)

Can this phone do multi-user (a la Android 5.x)? Or is it simply a single user only phone?
