Can you cash on those points even as cash back or GCs? How much is 60k pts anyways in $$ amount?

Im looking for a new CC to apply to since I have some things I want to buy soon.

1cent per point if you want gift card, but i would not recommend that. You can get more if use it to book aa tickets or something.

I applied in April so it's 4 months ago and already received my 50k points. The spending was $3k for that deal. I don't think I stand a chance. Smilie

If you go for gift card, then 1 point is 1 cent, and 50000 points is $500.
If it was exchanged for mileage, it can be 2 cents per point.
In general, thankyou point is evaluated at ~1.6 cents per the points guy

Can you downgrade from this card to a lesser one eventually before the Annual fee kicks in after 1 year or would you have to close it?

Ah. I agree that would be a stretch. But a few lines on SM should be quick, would not hurt to try, haha.
