Guild Wars 2 has been free to play since it came out years ago. You just need to buy the game.

and now you don't need to buy the game, only the expansion pack if you want to.

That's technically not "free to play" if you had to buy anything at all related to the game.

You can download the game completely free now and play (with some restrictions) without paying anything. They're even offering refunds to people who bought the core game.

No, this is different. You don't even need to buy the game now.

Game will die due to the massive amount of botters and gold sellers. They should have limited the max level to like 40 or something.

The most common way to describe Guild Wars 2's previous purchase method is "Buy to Play", just like 'The Secret World' is. You assumed too much.

If you had clicked the link I provided, you might have understood what I meant by "Free to Play". Please do your research before correcting anyone.

Looking at past deals, the cheapest package that included the core content of GW2 has been $10 + no subscription play. This recent change makes that core content free on top of no subscription play. Granted, the free core content doesn't include some of the stuff in the paid core, but judging from the comparison table OP linked, this new tier should still be a lot of RPG for absolutely $0 paid to GW2, and a good amount of MMO (there's a level gate to some PVP and grouping functions).

I've heard rumors of a few play features that are different for the people signing up now for free.

I heard that you will get less bank space. (no big deal, just sell everything)
Less inventory space. (Just sell more often)

You can't join the World versus World battles until you reach level 60, where as people who have bought the game can join those right away. (But you shouldn't bother to join WvW until you have a had a chance to play awhile and get to know the game).

Reasons to play:
The world is huge. And open and explorable. It worth it just to go explore the world. And you gain exp by simply exploring.
The puzzles in some areas are very challenging. You can't just buy your way to success. Same goes for dungeons.
World bosses are amazing. When you see 200 people attacking at once, and it all happens without lag or glitching, it is quite amazing. Even the weakest, unskilled soul can help out and get rewarded with looting the big treasure chest afterwards.
There are some great guilds out there to join and be social with. Ours is social, family friendly and well organized (PM for details).

I think you could play this for a year and not even blink at the thought of buying the expansion.
Happy wand flailing !
