Thread Details

Target has the Skylanders Trap Team Starter Pack for at 75% off via their cartwheel app. The starter pack is regular price in store at $49.99 for XB1, PS4 and Wii U. Bringing the price down to $14.99. I didn't try very hard, but they wouldn't price match their online price of $29.99 (XB1) and apply the cartwheel coupon.

I'm new to Skylanders. I have 3 boys (ages 6, 7, 8) and we bought an Xbox 1 that we will give them for Christmas. Was thinking of being a bunch of the Trap Team stuff since it's cheap now. Can you add the new editions to it later on or are they played separately?

Minimum toys required to complete trap team.

You can use these charters to new games. But New level may require it's own set of characters to complete all levels.

They are all separate games. However, all figures are forwards compatible, meaning you can use the figures on future releases. So the figures from the first game (Spyro's Adventure) work in all of them, figures from the 2nd game (Giants) works in it and all games released after, and so on. So all Trap Team figures will work on Trap Team and the new game coming out soon (plus all future games). You can also use figures from previous games on Trap Team. But you can't use Trap Team figures on previous games since they wouldn't be programmed in. You can, though, use re-posed figures in previous games. For instance, if you buy Gill Grunt for Trap Team, he will work on previous games as the version for that game, since he was already programmed in. I know that may sound confusing, but it's simpler than it seems.

You only need one portal plugged in. I believe the Swap Force portal works for Trap Team to load the figures, but you will need the Trap Team portal for the traps. But the Trap Team portal works for all previous games. So you can just have the Trap Team portal plugged in and use it for all Skylanders games (at least, so far). It's also supposed to work for the new Superchargers game, and the Superchargers portal should be compatible with all previous games.

The xbone version is $30 on target's website, you could try price match and apply cartwheel for $7.50 as well.

PS4 version is $33 on walmart.com could try that to get it to $8.20 ish.

if you have the $10 starter kit coupon from either cereal boxes or old kids meals (Wendy's?) the 3do pack is $2.49 with no need to price match. %75 comes off full price of $49.99 then $10 comes off after. didn't bother trying to price match and risk getting shot down over $2.50

just did this at target for the Wii u version original price was 49.99, price matched to target online for $30.49 then bought other items to pad when I at the end I asked the clerk to scan the target wheel app. make sure you ask for PM first. then when the manager leaves hand them the coupon. 6.30 out the door #win

I did the PM at $30.49 as well. Weird thing was the app showed 49.99. The mobile browser showed 30.49. Bad thing is, they were all 29.99 on Sunday when I first looked. Definitely some weird pricing going on with it.

You guys got lucky, since the cartwheel brought it cheaper than the price match, they would do the price match. Lady read the rules from the book to me, I still got it for $13 though for the Wii u.
