Quality Knife

I am looking for a quality wood preferably knife around $50 for a gift. Not a kitchen knife - either a fixed blade or folder. Like a Benchmade but they are just too much.

Reps!

You want a machete or a good EDC folder? You can have either for under 50.
Just having price as the only variable in the equation makes things extremely difficult.
What will they be primarily using this knife for?
Is weight a factor?
Is Size a factor?
Blade steel a factor?
Handle material a factor?

Anyways, one of the best bang for the buck folding knives is the RAT Model 1 ...or its smaller brother the RAT model 2.

I just bought the Ka-bar USMC US Made knife. Seems perfect for the recipient. I need it by tomorrow.

Probably too late, but I'd go with the Morakniv Companion carbon steel knife [amazon.com]. It's a fixed blade, very well designed, very durable, and cheap.

Looks like a good value but this is for a knife collector - I don't think he will ever actually use it. So I wanted a nice American made knife. He doesn't have a Ka-bar too. I would have settled for Australian, German or possibly Japanese made though but no Chinese or Pakistani knives. I think the Ka-bar is perfect! It will arrive today with Amazon's next day shipping. I'll post a pic.

I really wanted to get him a Benchmade but the lower priced Benchmades are all HK branded. Maybe for Christmas he'll get the Benchmade.

Ah, gotcha. I think you're right, he should really like your choice.
