Thread Details

My local Honda dealer is offering a lease that has been the first to ever attract me.

They pay the first month payment.

They pay all DMV fees.

They pay the dealer fee.

They pay the aquisition fee.

It is a true $0 due at signing 12k miles 36 month lease.

Honda CRV LX is $249

Honda Civic LX is $199

Honda Accord LX is $249

Do you think this is a good lease? If so, is the CRV the wisest choice of the 3?

Doesn't seem like anything special. I had a family member get a new Camry for $0 due at signing, $163/mo. 12k miles a year, 36 month lease.

For a more direct point of reference, I was offered sub-$170/mo (can't recall exact numbers) for a Civic lease on another true $0 down 12k/36m lease. Forgot to add that in my first reply.

They aren't paying anything for you. They are just taking those additional costs in to the monthly fees and making you pay them over time. A $200/mo lease for a Civic doesn't seem like a good deal IMO. I just leased a car and one thing I realized is that the price they offer usually is higher than what you can get it for. For example for the car I got they were offering it at $199/mo but after negotiating I got it for $169/mo (plus taxes). They at times may have a crazy good deal on one car that is in stock but those are hard to get because they usually go early.

I don't know that leasing "average" cars is really beneficial. I've never leased, only bought, but I keep my cars for the long haul. It seems leasing is really for people that always want to be driving a new/semi-new car and appreciate the value in it always being under warranty (or rather, the warranty term and lease term are usually about the same). This works out best when you can get a car where the lease payments (read: projected depreciation) are less than the actual depreciation, meaning you're essentially driving a much better car than you could normally afford to buy (and aren't paying for the depreciation). This is generally going to be "luxury" type cars, not daily drivers.

Always go in working the best deal you can on buying a new car. Then flip over to leasing with the price you agreed to for a purchase. Should be better than the printed deal on the lease.

Most of the smaller Honda's don't have a high % to negotiate down.. compared to the profit on a pilot which I think is in the mid 20's(it was in 2013)

I just leased a Rav4 XLE yesterday. $1000 down (includes first car payment) and 165 monthly, which includes all taxes. Not a spectacular deal but also not that bad. Also, 24 month 12k a year.
