Editor's Notes & Price Research

The 5% discount is good on your first order only. This is nice price drop for a recent release. The pre-order for the game alone was a Frontpage deal at the end of last month priced at $19.49-$19.99 before Facebook discount. -Corwin

The previews looked good, and it's a top seller on Steam and "Very positive" after 5000+ reviews. For this price, I decided to get it.

Paid with PayPal, order confirmation came through within seconds.

Had to confirm phone number by receiving a call or txt. Couldn't use my Google voice number which was a bummer. I hate using my real cell # most places on the internet but no biggie. Activated on Steam without any issues.

These are most likely non-region blocked keys from low economic regions such as Eastern Europe or South East Asia. Game companies discount the prices in these regions to fight the high rates of piracy due to consumers being unable to afford the prices of more developed regions. Because of the grey market area that these keys are traded in, there is a possibility that the website may have inadvertently purchased the digital keys (or physical box with key) from another reseller that used stolen credit card information to buy the games. If the keys were indeed stolen, there is a risk that the publisher of the game may revoke the keys.

As a side note, one way to determine if a website is trading in grey market keys is to see if they sell Blizzard products (Starcraft, Warcraft, etc). Blizzard does not authorize third party key resellers as they prefer to sell them directly or through physical retail stores.

Great price for a mediocre game. I spent around 6 hours with the PS4 version before sending it back. There's nothing inherently WRONG with Mad Max, it's just not particularly good at anything it attempts to do. Jim Sterling put it best, Mad Max doesn't fail as an open world game, it just fails at being worth your time when there are other titles that simply do it better. I think for most folks it's not the cost of buying Mad Max but the value of your free time and that quiet simply, there are better games to play.

"It’s a substandard but largely competent “AAA” game in a sea full of them, and those who do value the idea of content above all else will find more than their money’s worth here...There’s simply no reason to pick it up, however, if you’ve yet to try The Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor or Batman: Arkham City. There are tons of better games that go for what Mad Max went for and do so in a superior manner."

I've bought a Xbox Live membership and a least 5 games over the past 5 months from them and I've never had any problems.
