it does have a sensitive tilt switch on the bottom so if it fails to power up check that.

Amazon reviews are OK/good (4.2 out of 5 stars)

From an answer from Q&A:
"The knob on left is the thermostat. It will turn the unit ON and OFF based on your setting and the room temperature. The knob on the right controls how much heat is put out (600, 900, or 1500 watts). The rt. knob settings are OFF, FAN ONLY, LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH. The fan speed is not adjustable It rotates at a constant speed."

Wattage is important for me, live in a house with crappy old wiring,
can't have a high-powered unit that'll trip the breaker

this is very important to prevent a fire. most people dont realize this - not to over load wiring and breakers.

Plus if you are using it one of those rugs that tend to catch at items, and have people who push them around with their feet to move them - it would be a good way to bust the safety switch and then it's a brick. I like the little suckers, but I pick them up when I move them.

Ours is probably 7 years old and still working fine. We don't put it in the toilet however.

I would make sure you have wiring that can handle this. K&T wiring in old homes were not designed for microwaves and toasters.

This heater is AWESOME - I use it in toilet or close to bed for quick relief from cold. Works great but consumes good amount of power too!
