Best way to upgrade my Verizon phones

Hope someone can help make heads or tails with my plan because I can't figure out the best solution with their new system.

Basically, we have 3 smartphones with Verizon.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s4 that is not under contract but I'm grandfathered with Unlimited Data so I absolutely do NOT want to give that up. My Data is $23.99/month

My husband has an original Galaxy that is pretty much useless as a smartphone. His contract ends in November (I used his upgrade to get my phone 2 black fridays ago). He never uses the phone but my youngest son uses it as just phone when he's away from home. Has 2 GB's data at $30

My oldest has an original LG phone that is eligible for an upgrade as of last week. He doesn't use much data, texts or minutes at all. Has 2 GB's data at $30

We share 700 minutes and never even come close to using even half of it.
I pay $5 for 250 texts
LG phone is $10 for 1000 texts
Husbands phone is pay as you go. My son uses about 2 or 3 a month

Right now, I would like to get a new phone and replace the original galaxy with my S4 and my oldest wants to upgrade his LG.

Don't know if that makes sense to anyone but is there a best way to do this without paying through the nose or losing my unlimited? Verizon reps are pretty much useless since their main goal is to get me out of the unlimited. TIA

I was the same as you hanging onto the unlimited data plan. It just isn't worth hanging onto it anymore. I finally gave it up and switched to t-mobile unlimited everything for $100/month for 2 phones.

Consider giving up the unlimited plan, it isn't worth limiting your entire phone structure for something you probably aren't using anyway. Get all the phones on a family shared plan somewhere.

I also am holding onto my unlimited as long as I possibly can since I do use it. There are ways to upgrade and get a subsidized phone and still keep your unlimited data. Check out this thread also: http://slickdeals.net/f/7743625-verizon-how-to-use-a-subsidized-upgrade-and-keep-your-unlimited-data-plan-or-avoid-a-2-year-data-plan-on-a-nationwide-basic-line?v=1&src=SiteSearch

Basically what you do is transfer your upgrade to your husband's line and then order phone to ship home. You would have to activate it on that line when you get it. After you use it to make a few calls and texts and keep it on there about an hour, do a device swap between your line. Then the S4 would be on his number and the new phone would be on yours. But please do read the thread I posted for more detailed information and good luck to you!

Ringplus uses Sprint network. They offers free plan and you will pay for the extra usage. I guess you may save a lot money after switching from VZW.

So Sorry, I never saw the notifications for this. Thank you so much kchj for that thread! I guess I'm not the only one. I'll study it tonight.

Dealgate, TMobile and At&T both suck in my area and Sprint screwed my out of a few hundred dollars by charging me NY tax when I was in NJ for 8 yrs so no switching back to them either.

Ironically, my plan with the unlimited data costs less a month than the other two lines with 2gigs so it's almost as if they don't want me to switch.
