Nearly 2 Months After My Original Complaint, I'm Still Missing TigerDirect Alerts

Freak4Dell 3,473 680 September 15, 2015 at 09:06 AM
I complained nearly two months ago about this issue. It started working again for a few days, but then stopped again. I have a whitelisted zip code. What is going on?

Here's a deal that I missed out on because SD can't seem to fix this simple issue.

Hi, do you mind sending me a screenshot of your Deal Alert settings for TigerDirect?

I don't currently have any deal alerts set up for TD. I am missing alerts for deals posted by people I follow, but only if those deals are from TD. I also am missing alerts for new posts in threads, but only if the thread is a TD deal. This thread is included in that, by the way.

Go to your settings page.

On that page look for "Zip Code". Do you have one set? If not, add your* zip code. That should sort it out.

The zip code is important for TD alerts. See the discussion here.

* I hear Alaska has lots of fantastic zip codes at this time of year and aren't affected by any Tigers.

Yes, I'm well aware of the zip code issue. I have a zip code entered that is in one of the no-tax states.

Since you don't have Deal Alerts set up for TD and mean "notifications" they will need to look into a different area.

notifications
Looking at the emails I have received recently I think you might be right on that.

I am getting deal alerts for TD-based topics but I am not getting follow/user notifications for TD topics. I hadn't noticed because the deal alerts are arriving as expected, but I should have received follow/user notifications as well.

The zip code check was only applied that to Deal Alerts. Certain other actions may still be blocked. I believe the plan is to eventually expand it to other things, but at the moment that's how it is Smilie

That's absolutely not acceptable. Either apply the zip code filter to everything, or remove it entirely.

Removing it would mean you couldn't even get a deal alert, so that would be an even worse experience Smilie

Actually, removing it would mean you're no longer participating in tax evasion, but that's a different discussion.

If you insist on having the filters, apply it to everything so that your users actually are able to use your product. You clearly were able to figure out how to apply the filter to DAs. It shouldn't be that difficult of a process to apply the same filter to other notifications.

Thanks for the feedback. We definitely will apply to other notification types. It's prioritized so hopefully we'll be able to get that fixed soon.
