So it appears as though there might be a pricing error on Best Buy's Viper remote start bundle. This is the bundle.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/viper...JBcyl5mpKA
That's an entire remote start system, immobilizer bypass module (used to bypass chip in your key) AND all the labor to install it. I just swung by my local Best Buy to ask about the bundle for a friend. The sales guy grabbed it from the top shelf and scanned it to check the price. It discounted out to $106! He let me take a picture of the sales screen.

This bundle is not available for instore pickup and the online price is $250. So it's going to be B&M only and also YMMV.

As comparison, that same exact base system with no bundle (w/o bypass) sells for $149 and sits right next to it. This has to be an error...bounce

EDIT: Receipt posted too.

As a former Best Buy Autotech, I feel for these guys if this catches on.

if it was a Two-Remote id be all over this.

Anyway of knowing if "Smart Start" GPS system is compatible with this cause then any alarm triggers could be sent to your cell or via email.

It's not really as awesome of a deal as you think. I picked up this system (branded as Avital, but DEI has multiple brands of the exact same product) for like $40 from eBay a few years ago. The bypass is another $30. After labor, it would probably cost you around that $150 price that Best Buy sells the just the remote start for. So this is a good deal, but it's not the 60% off deal that it seems like.

This is true. It's only one remote. Also, yes, it IS compatible with Smart Start. However, this is not an alarm system and it will not send you notifications if your factory alarm is going off. Though you could set up e-fences with the Smart Start with GPS. It would send you an alert when your car is driving away. LOL

That is a sweeping misconception. As with ANY installation bay anywhere in the world, it's all going to come down to the installers. Best Buy has some garbage installers and some that do stellar work. Some of those guys do high-end full fiberglass work on the side. I suggest going in and having a discussion with your local installer and feel them out, before making such sweeping judgement about thousands of installers across the country. Best Buy warranties their labor for life at any location across the country BTW.

Please link us to a $40 DEI remote start system. And then link us to a $30 DBALL2. Unless you're buying used, those prices don't exist. Let alone the warranties aren't valid unless bought AND INSTALLED from an authorized dealer. That's something DEI is extremely strict about too.

This is the Avital system that I have:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...ES39EW2MW0

The one question about the difference that I have is whether the Avital is SmartStart compatible. SmartStart is only sold under the Viper branding, so none of the Avital data shows anything about compatibility. However, I've seen multiple DEI units, and regardless of the brand, the modules have always looked the exact same. I suspect that SmartStart could be plugged into any one of them.

I personally used a DEI PKFM for the bypass:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...5CA032SQWG

I'm not entirely familiar with the DBALL you mentioned, but it looks like Best Buy sells it on their eBay store for $20:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/XPRESSKIT...2c9b5220d8

Like I said, this deal is a good deal. But you make it seem like it's $150 off the $250 price, when really, the $250 price is way inflated. The real price of what you get is somewhere around $150, which makes this $40-50 off. Still a good deal, obviously.

The $250 price includes labor to install the base system and labor to program and install the DBALL2 (which sells for $42.43 on Amazon BTW). The DBALL2 blows the much older DBALL that you linked to out of the water. And the PKFM, lol, it's like comparing apples to broomsticks. I asked what the labor would be if I were to bring in this same system. $119 for base system and another $39 for program and install of DBALL2. So if you take that $160 and add it to the ~$80 in comparable parts, you get $240. So you'd save 10 bucks buying it online and you'd have no warranty on the product. Your call.

Regardless, this deal is $106.... I don't even know why we're debating. hug

Did you actually get them to ring it up (AND NOT JUST PRICE CHECK)? It packages all off UPC on the box. Scan one UPC and it does it all. Just doing a "price check" brings up the $250 price. We tried. You could probably even just ask them to open up a sale and handkey the SKU "1820019" and it'll package everything out exactly as the receipt I posted shows.

My bad on my end, I meant to say if it was a two-way remote not two remotes as in quantity.

I have two vehicles with two-way remotes with Viper and anything has happens on the vehicle sends a signal back to the remote to notify you.

Also, mine claim to have a one mile radius of the two way signal which is never that far maybe about a 1/4 of a mile.
