I think this will be very popular this holiday season. It is a much better tablet than other knock offs at this price point. Smart move Amazon.

I'm almost 150% certain that this tablet will perform better. The N7 2012 were slow and had issues with degrading and sudden failure of the NAND.

Do they even have the "special offers" anymore? It's been a really long time since I've seen anything. Probably a year for anything worthwhile.

Interesting that this version of Fire has expandable memory. That changes things a little bit.

Looks like this version includes "sponsored screensavers." Or pay $15 more to remove those.

Yep!

I've been wanting to get a special offers device (without spending too much money) and the expandable memory makes it attractive. I'm OK with spending $50 + the cost of a 128gb MicroSD card for what would generally just be a music player.

True but those knockoffs run Android with the full array of apps without any necessary modification.

The biggest and most common complaint about the Fire line of devices is that Fire OS is extremely inhibiting. The lower price point definitely sways some people closer to Amazon...but i'm not sure it is going to be a dramatic shift.

The resolution is very poor along with the DPI. Amazon screensaver ads are a nightmare and trashy IMO. 8gb won't last very long. However this would probably make a good gift for users who do not require much.

8GB onboard storage really isnt an issue since it has an SD card slot, expandable up to 128GB...
