Thread Details

Sorry for the newbie question (I know lots about computers but never got into consoles).

I'm planning to buy my 10 year old son an Xbox One and very likely the Madden 16 bundle which comes with one year of EA access.

Does the EA access mean that he can play FIFA 15, NBA Live 15 as much as he wants for the one year that he has the EA access? If so, for a sports kid, that seems like a great deal!

It also looks like he can play FIFA 16 before it goes live but then I'm guessing will need to buy the game and that it won't be in EA Access until the next year's title is up. Is that correct?

Thanks!

you are correct that you can play certain games unlimited through the EA vault. newer games tend not to show up there. they do give you trials which last about 10 hours for the recently released games. its a good deal if you like to play a lot of different games but not pay $60 for all of them.

you get 10 hours play time of the new EA games several days before their release dates, which I think is its best feature for me. The games are full versions, not some trials with limited features.

Yeah there is also that 10% off every EA title if you decide to buy.

Thank you very much

And I hadn't seen that mention of Star Wars yet - nice!

Looks like EA is moving towards the Adobe Photoshop/Apple Music model of monthly subscriptions over sales

You can play full versions of all the games in the EA Vault. It's a great add-on to someone just getting a new gaming system that doesn't yet have many games, it's basically instant access to 10+ games for dirt cheap. You won't get the sports titles at launch, it'll always be last year's version (they tend to release to the vault after the corresponding sport's season ends. So last year's Madden was added in the Spring, after the Super Bowl.
