Deals on brand new ones don't pop up often, and if so, it's usually a small discount. Nintendo sells refurbs once in a while. Basically, used is probably the way to go.

You could also setup a deal alert so that in the event a deal is posted you will receive a notification or e-mail.

The best other option is to take advantage of a trade-in bonus somewhere. That's how I got my Zelda 3DS XL, Best Buy was doing some trade-in bonus thing so I brought in my disused 360 and a stack of games that GameStop would have given me a buck apiece for, and ended up paying like $20 out of pocket.

LMAO Not around here. Around here they use the Gamestop model(give you shit for it, then mark it up to $5 under MSRP).

As for my advice, I'd say to stalk Cowboom and/or Amazon's Warehouse Deals for a 3DS. Although many people on multiple deal sites(SD, FW, CAG) have page monitoring programs running quite often, so unless you're quick on the trigger or have one click ordering active you're gonna have to fight with the masses over the few items that pop up.

From my own experiences, he uses and abuses the sites he is a member of. He cares about no one but himself. If there's a deal ANYWHERE, he is the person to buy 100x of whatever it is to resell for profit, and usually get the deal pulled or canceled.

He lives near me. A couple years ago, he bought five copies of a game on clearance at target closest to me. Bragged about it here then soon found out the trade value wasn't worth a 'flip'. When I called him on it for being a scumbag for buying out the stock, he PM'ed me and told me he would now purposely return them to a target far away from me so I can't get a copy for myself.
Whine more, please.

That they do. Then again for the longest time the ONLY one available around here was in our downtown. They had pretty much a monopoly until the last couple years when a few 'swap shops' opened up, including one right up the street from where I live.

I haven't been in any of the newer shops as of yet. I also haven't been in the old pawn shop lately either since the only thing they have priced semi decently is the older PS3/360 games. Their classic games they started taking in and selling again are all gouged to eBay prices. Even their old coins they used to sell for one flat rate each are now priced based in their precious metal content. So no more getting Morgan and Peace dollars for $10 a pop flat.

THIS. I think I tried out the 3D effect on the 3DS all of two times the whole time I had one. It gave me a headache within 5 minutes and I shut it right back off.

I have a hard time playing without 3d on. I honestly feel it's helped me with depth perception in the real world.

I thought of this. I have seen them in the past but not at my local shop, do they have these deals online often?

I don't like that I can't fold it. Otherwise I would.

The only on-line trade-ins I've done have been via Amazon.
