no way would I pay the $400 price tag on this MES, so saying that the slick deal price is about all this unit is worth to begin with. I own the 30 in MES.. I'm so over dealing with adding pellets or chips to this unit every 20-30 mins. air flow in the MES is horrible. which means it's near impossible to use a pellet maze or tube.

appreciate the info on the these. Had them in my Amazon wish list for over a year. They are frequently around $230.

Hoping the 40" propane version goes back down to $155 soon.

I've read where you only need to add wood chips for the first hour.....after that it's a waste of wood chips. The smoke flavor is mainly achieved during first hour while the meat is still raw.

I think I paid $139 for mine clearenced at Tractor Supply two years ago.....I love mine.

Had the old non-windowed version of the MES and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I forgot to clean it the last time I used it, we moved, I went a few months without using it, and when I opened it up it was completely rusted inside. At this price, I'll give it another go. At least the window will remind me to clean it. Smilie

Edit: To another user's point about how often you need to add wood chips, I honestly didn't need to do it that often. Maybe once every 2 hours or so. I'm sure the flavor is a bit better on a charcoal smoker, but you trade off the convenience of having an electric model and not having to worry about temperature peaks/valleys.
