I have used Nokia on Symbian with hardly any complaints - and used them for several years.

Right now I am on LG F6 - major issue is the memory - investigated rooting and it seems that has pitfalls so gave up.

Would there be a smartphone, less than 4.51" (but flexible - as long as it can withstand accidental dropping without heavy protective gear - ie rugged phone), and versatile - what are your recommendations,

Update:
GSM phone

What carrier are you on? Are you highly concerned about the camera and extras like that?

Have you thought about getting value phones, like a Nokia 635. No need for a $50 case when the phone only costs $50.

Mine is GSM

If it is smartphone, I want it to have enough memory and able to play occasional news like CNN.

The one I have LG F6 does not have enough memory - while it allows to move the apps to SD card, not all apps can be moved.

CNN and others have quit in the middle - not sure if it is a common issue on Android.

Camera: I like it to be good but not exceptional - I have standalone exceptional cameras.

Nokia - what are concerns of Viruses? I don't mind Ubuntu or Firefox phone - I have not tried iOS but hope it is of solid quality?

LG G5 is $900 USD when it is released not $150 - see below:

Secondly, HD or whatever shall consume more power too.

It only one review, plus the 1st batch of G2 had lots of defect in Q4Y2013. One cell rep went through 3 G2 at launch. Alot of SDers G2 are pretty good with 100s of datapoints. No phone is perfect even iPhone 6.

There also Zenfone 2, Moto X, Moto G, Z Compact,

My G2 is close to flawless, drop at 30mph on back with hybrid case
