Bedroom / Living Room Furniture

Hello guys,

I am looking to purchase a complete bedroom set (bed [with storage would be best] with headboard, 2 night stands, dresser with vanity mirror). In the bed I would preferably want a California king - if its possible.

For the living room, looking for a sectional with a ottoman and a center table.

These aren't urgent, I can wait until Black Friday, if that's when the best deals will arrive. Would appreciate any recommendations on deals, online stores or anything you might have had experience with.

I also need a mattress, haven't decided if I am prepared to buy the pricier ones, but I need something that's hard - all the ones I have seen so far are soft and I don't like soft mattresses. Any recommendations here?

Cheers!
Dan

For the furniture, Craigslist. For the mattress, either Costco or Original Mattress Factory.

Thanks, I would like to add that I am looking to buy brand new, hence CL might not be the best choice, didn't see a lot of options for brand new furniture there. Also I am in the Philly area, if that helps make recommendations.

Funny I'm looking for same thing and in same area. If you still are looking and want cheap but decent quality, try mealeys outlet in morrisville. Pretty cheap for good quality but of course limited selection. Also only open 1 weekend a month I believe and when I went, the nicer sectionals had sold signs on them and that was within an hr of opening for the weekend on a Friday.

Depends on your budget. For bedroom furniture, if you want decent quality wood furniture, I would recommend Hooker Furniture. Good quality and a lot cheaper than the Ethan Allen's and Thomasville's of this world. Bedroom sets are fine used imo if you get one in decent shape and Ebay is a good place to look for them. After all a bed frame and some dressers\night stands really do not have to be new so much as they have to be in good condition.

If you want new, then try a distributor online like Basista furniture. They sell just about every brand imaginable.

I have ordered from them before and gotten very good prices and at least the reps I have dealt with are pretty knowledgeable about pointing you to something decent in your budget (and there is no sales tax to most states). I have not ordered from them in a number of years though but I assume they have not changed service levels.

As to a mattress, that you should buy new obviously. All the major retailers are about the same in my experience. Shop around for a sale. Again, depends on your budget.
