Hilarious that slickdealers over pay even at half price for a shitty cup of coffee instead of brewing it themselves, but that's none of my business.

Any recommendations on how to brew a good cup of coffee? Or your favorite method?

Hate to contribute to trolling snobbery. But to answer your post, good whole bean coffee with a fresh roast can be ordered from a company (such as stumptown). They stamp the roast date on each package. Use a burr grinder which grinds consistent grounds. Grind every morning before you make your coffee. Use a French press and pour immediately or use a hario v60 for a pour over.

I just purchased a slickdeal burr grinder and just have to purchase beans. Anything that I can purchase from a big box that isn't so crazy expensive?

I found a decent coffee at trader joes, I wish I remember the name! I'll check my pantry to see if I still have the canister. It's hit or miss at TJ's...

I am going to be doing a cold brew with a french press anyways if it matters.

LOL. You sound like the endless streams of Europeans that "must" tell me how bad Starbucks coffee is. Yet whenever I'm in Europe, which is quite often, the Starbucks are always jammed packed. There this one in Cologne where it gets so packed after work that they have a bouncer working the door.
