Future Plan Phase 9 Overview
This Phase 9 research promotion (running Fri through Sat) is for new Members only (meaning new phone line activations). Based upon the number of new signups, an allotment will be reserved for current members will have the choice to upgrade on Monday, October 12 at Noon PDT (such as those who missed Phase 6 on Friday). At the same time on Monday, all Current Future Plan members will be able to switch to the new Future Plan Phase 9 if they wish (if you prefer 1500 minutes over 1000 MB).

This is a free plan that includes 1500 Minutes / 1500 SMS / 500 MB per month (Note: this is different than the 1000/1000/1000 of previous Future promos).

Plan requires an initial $5 top up. Afterwards, a minimum $.01 balance (positive balance) has to be maintained on the account at all times to pay for potential overages billed at 2 cents per minute, text, and MB. Your credit card will be automatically charged for another $5 top up every time your account balance reaches zero. Top-up balances do not expire and can be used to pay for overages, add-ons, or other RingPlus fees (like ESN swaps, port-ins, or number changes). The free plans have no monthly fees or line charges. If you don't use overages and maintain the minimum balance, you will not need to top up again and you will pay nothing each month.

Eligibility

For new activations only (one phone number/line per person), with one exception: Current customers can switch to Future Plan Phase 9 from any previous Future Plan. Other plans are not eligible.

Overage Rates

4¢ MMS (can be disabled in the Dashboard)
3¢ International SMS
2¢ All other overages (minutes, SMS, MB)

General FAQ

Q: Is MMS included in the plan?
Answer: No, MMS is not included in any RingPlus plan. RingPlus plans only include domestic SMS in their text allotments. Each MMS is charged at the MMS overage rate (currently 4¢). To use MMS, you must have an existing top up balance to deduct from.

Q: Do I have to maintain a top up balance?
Answer: Yes, depending on plan. Plans that have auto top-up (like this Future Plan) have a minimum balance requirement. If your balance falls below the minimum (due to overages, etc.), your credit card will be charged automatically for another $5 top up. Top up balances never expire, so if your balance never drops below the minimum, you will not be automatically charged again.

Q: What happens if I go over my allotment?
Answer: You will be charged overage, deducted from your top up balance. If you run out of top up balance, your credit card will be automatically charged $5 + tax to replenish your top-up. If you anticipate needing more than your free allotment amounts, you can purchase add-ons, which are additional monthly amounts of minutes, sms, or data. For example, the 1 GB data add-on is $8 / month.

Q: How do I monitor my balance or usage?
Answer: RingPlus Dashboard website [ringplus.net], or the RP Samara Android app [google.com].

Q: Can I set hard usage limits (ex: 1500 minutes, 1500 sms, 500 MB, etc)?
Answer: No, you cannot set hard caps, but you can manually deactivate texts or data on the website Dashboard at any time to prevent further usage.

Q: How do I disable MMS (or minutes, data, etc.)?
Answer: You can enable or disable MMS and other services from RingPlus Dashboard > Account > Manage Device

Q: Can I use WiFi calling (aka Fluidcall)?
Answer: Yes. You can set up your phone for Wifi calling (aka RingPlus Fluidcall) if you'd rather not use regular cell towers (or are unable to get good reception). WiFi calling uses your RingPlus phone number and is treated just like regular cell calls. WiFi calling is charged regular airtime and deducted from your plan minutes (unless your plan includes a separate allotment if WiFi minutes)

Q: What's required for WiFi calling / Fluidcall?
Answer: WiFi calling can be used over any internet connection worldwide, including WiFi, 3G, or LTE, and is compatible with most SIP client applications. You can use a hardware device like the Obi or any software SIP client/application on your computer or mobile device. Click here [ringplus.net] for information on WiFi Fluidcall or go to your Dashboard [ringplus.net] for setup instructions.

Q: Are there other fees?
Answer: Charges for additional services:
  • $7.99 port-in fee. Your account will be charged after your phone number transfer is successfully completed.
  • $0.99 ESN/device swap fee.
  • $0.99 change phone number fee. You cannot choose the new number. It is automatically assigned based on your credit card billing zip code.
  • All RingPlus fees are deducted from your top-up balance (not your credit card). You must have an available top-up balance in order to do anything that requires a fee. Minimum top-up is $5 + tax.
  • Taxes can vary widely depending on locale. Average seems to be around 20%. Tax is only charged when adding money to your top-up balance.

This is hard to decide. 500 MB or 1000 MB? 1500 Minutes or 1000 Minutes?

Well different people like different things. My cats like mice, I don't.. lol..

All in all it's still a damn good offer. You won't find this much free service anywhere else with real cell phone calls. I think this is the right move. ringplus is great for voice, and people who want data should go to Freedompop. I like that they give us a choice to decide what works best for us.

How do I sign up if I am an existing member? I don't see it under the Change Your Plan page.
"Based upon the number of new signups, an allotment will be reserved for current members who will have the choice to upgrade on Monday, October 12 at Noon PDT. At the same time on Monday, all Current Future Plan members will be able to switch to the new Future Plan Phase 9 if they wish."

If you're currently on a future plan you can upgrade Monday.. if not sign up for the waiting list here:

https://discourse.ringplus.net/t/...-2015/5896

The email waiting-list for future upgrade possibilities does not give priority for todays opening (Future Plan Phase 6) but for all other upgrades starting Monday (September 12, 2015).

If you are on the waiting-list, your telephone line will automatically upgrade when a specific space becomes available within a specific Future account category. (Phase 1-x) Please remember that all Future research plans had different requirements (e.g. account is linked to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or has ported in from T-Mobile, etc.)

Members upgrading right now to Future Plan Phase 6 please understand that space is limited."

It's available for new lines, not yet to upgrade existing lines. From the RingPlus_PR post:

"This research promotion is for new Members only. Does RP have a good app that shows how many text messages or minutes I have used?
