Lifetime warranty? That's pretty impressive. What happens if it craps out 5 years from now? Do they replace it with the same card or updated model?

My personal conflict right now. 380 is an overclocked 285, which I believe is a 280 w/ more ram. So if you can over clock this a little you can get similar performance

Half true. Correct on the first part, but 285 is not just a 280 with more ram. I only say this as I am on the fence like everyone else and been heavily researching. Yes, 285 is clocked higher across the board. However, it is also actually a different GPU than the 280. 380 is rebrand of 285 though. For those debating, there are several Youtube videos if you search R9 380 vs R9 280 or others.

Now, if you can still get a 280x fro say $150 or less (hypothetical, although sure something out there), then the discussion becomes more interesting. 280x is darn near same performance. But 280x even older chipset, but clocked faster and more power, etc.

Here you go guys - head to head 280 versus 290 R9s.

I can see why you are contemplating the move.

I'm still butt hurt about missing that awesome deal for the 8gb 390 😔 even though it didn't have hdmi 2.0. Maybe it'll go on sale again sometime soon.

thanks for the clarification, I'm not too keen on all the different GFX cards out there. that being said, i think I'm going to wait for the 380 to hit this price.
