this is through buydigs store so warranty should be covered. I think Beltronics only honors if bought through an authorized dealer

I bought this a while back for my wife (does a lot of highway driving) who had a tendency to get speeding tickets and it's been working really well (no tickets yet Smilie).

get the V1 or Escort, i personally go with V1

Pro:
V1: arrow, accurate, long range (2miles, tested on i5)
Escort: less false alarm, also accurate, (i think they go up to 2.5 miles) easy to program (or plug and play) mute button on cigarette outlet

Con:
V1: you can't really tell if its detecting Ka or K as it just lit up red dot, but you can get used to the beeping sound as they sound different, a bit confusing to program, i just set it to advance logic and its been years, some false alarm, expensive at close to $500 after shipping, no mute button on the cigarette outlet

Escort: damn thing is loud, nothing really bad i would say about Escort but i chose V1 over Escort because of arrow. paid around $350 from bestbuy back in 2007

yes, you do get what you pay for, one speeding ticket is easily $200-$500 depend what city you are in, when i used to live in Cali i drive 80 miles round trips every day and these radar saved me well over $10k easily for the past 6 years.

my parents thought it was a waste of money at first because they say i could just drive slower, until they got ticket one time going 70 on a 65 (flow of traffic, road was pretty empty, could fight it but a hassle, cop were hiding anyway). they were so piss so i got them one and taught them how to read it and they were so happy ever since.

and is also fun to pick race against dumb ricer with Scion tC (especially the scion) watch them do a ricer flyby pass you thinking they won the race and then watching them getting pull over, its a joy to watch bouncebounce

it's definitely above the other crap in this price range and is up there with the passports (8500 and such). i have no idea why buydig is selling so many of these so cheap all the time. seems like the normal price for these lately over there.

I sold mine on clist and happy to get rid of it.

Way too many false alarms for me and my daily driving. The false alarms desensitize you to the real thing.

Unless you are traveling desolate roads, this thing will make you cra-cra with the false alarms.

I also find RD's give you a false sense of security. Just easier to slow down and save the real speed for the track.

I have escort 9500ix and don't see any practical advantage over this one

the new Escort Max 360 has arrows now. V1's patent expired.

Honestly why are arrows important. If you see the Ka go off you slow down. It's not like I'm gonna speed up to get away if it shows behind me... I never understood the whole argument.

i dont own it but the reviews indicate its great for the price. i guess you can define 'great' for a radar if it gives accurate readings with minimal false alarms (especially ka readings) and if those readings happen early enough.
i'm pretty sure beltronics is made by escort which really makes the very best radars in general. also this unit might compatible with escort live which could be cool but i am not sure.
